Medical Facials

A medical facial is an injectable treatment designed to support skin health and address a range of common concerns, including changes related to ageing and scarring.

Common concerns this treatment may address include:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Uneven or dull skin tone

  • Dehydrated or dry skin

  • Thin or crepe-like skin around the eyes, neck, or hands

  • Mild scarring

  • Acne scarring

  • Stretch marks

  • Surgical or trauma-related scars

Before treatment:

  • A consultation is required to discuss your concerns and medical history.

  • Your practitioner will provide detailed information about the procedure.

  • An individualised plan will be developed to suit your needs and preferences.

All treatments at Allure Derma are administered by a Registered Nurse and supported by experienced therapists.

The following FAQs provide important information about treatment, risks, and aftercare.
Please read carefully before booking.

How does it work?

A small amount of blood is drawn and processed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from other components. The platelet-rich plasma is then re-injected into the skin. Platelets contain growth factors that can support tissue repair and regeneration. In some cases, PRP may also be combined with skin needling to enhance absorption.

What results should I expect?

Improvements develop gradually, as PRP supports natural processes in the skin. Some people may notice changes over weeks to months, but the timing and degree of improvement vary. The effects may continue to develop over time, and multiple treatments may be recommended depending on individual needs.

How do I prepare before treatment?

You may be advised to:

  • Stay well-hydrated in the 48 hours before treatment

  • Reduce fat, alcohol, and caffeine intake in the week leading up to the procedure

  • Avoid supplements that increase bruising (fish oils, garlic, ginseng, omegas, green tea) for 2–3 weeks

  • Avoid facial treatments that may sensitise the skin in the week before treatment

Will it hurt?

A topical anaesthetic is usually applied before treatment to reduce discomfort.

Some people may still feel mild stinging or pressure during injections.

Who is suitable for treatment?

PRP may not be suitable for everyone.

It may not be recommended if you are:

  • Taking blood-thinning medications

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy

  • Living with Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or HIV

Your suitability will be determined at consultation.

Lifestyle factors such as smoking, poor diet, or alcohol use may reduce the effectiveness of treatment.

What are the side effects and risks?

Expected side effects include:

  • Temporary redness

  • Mild bruising

  • Swelling or tenderness

Less common risks may include:

  • Infection at the injection site

  • Prolonged swelling or irritation

  • Activation of cold sores in those with a history of herpes simplex

What aftercare is recommended?
  • Avoid touching your face for at least 4 hours

  • Wash hands before touching treated areas

  • Do not apply makeup for 24 hours

  • Avoid ice packs or hot showers (extreme temperature changes)

  • Sleep with your head slightly elevated for comfort

  • Use SPF 30+ sunscreen daily for at least 1 month

  • Avoid heavy cosmetics, oil-based products, or thick moisturisers for 2 days

  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot baths, and alcohol for several days

  • Use gentle, pH-neutral skincare for 48–72 hours

  • Avoid other facial treatments for at least 2 weeks unless advised

How many sessions will I need?

The number of treatments varies depending on your skin concerns, overall health, and goals.

A treatment plan will be discussed during consultation.
