Acne Treatments

Acne is a complex skin condition that can affect individuals of all ages, not just teenagers. At Allure Derma, we offer non-prescription acne support tailored to your skin type, severity, and sensitivity. Our goal is to help reduce breakouts, support skin repair, and promote long-term skin balance through professional guidance and evidence-informed care.

Our Approach to Acne Management
We understand that no two skin types are the same.
All acne treatments begin with a professional skin consultation to assess:
-
Type and severity of acne (e.g. congestion, inflammation, scarring)
-
Contributing factors such as skincare, lifestyle or hormonal triggers
-
Your current routine, skin barrier health and sensitivity

Based on this assessment, we create a tailored plan using in-clinic treatments and at-home care strategies.

What Acne Treatments May Include
Your treatment plan may involve:
-
LED Light Therapy: Blue and red light to support clearer skin and calm inflammation
-
Targeted Chemical Peels: To gently exfoliate, reduce congestion and support healing
-
Extractions (if appropriate): Manual removal of blackheads or comedones under sterile conditions
-
Skin Care Guidance: Help selecting the right home care products to maintain progress
-
Barrier Repair Support: Addressing underlying skin sensitivity or over-exfoliation

We do not prescribe medication. For moderate to severe acne, or acne with hormonal links, referral to a GP or dermatologist may be recommended for integrated care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can acne be treated without medication?
Yes — many cases of mild to moderate acne can be managed using non-prescription treatments and consistent skincare. However, some cases may require medical intervention, which we will discuss with you if appropriate.

What type of acne do you treat?
We support clients with:
-
Mild to moderate acne (including whiteheads, blackheads, papules and pustules)
-
Breakout-prone or congested skin
-
Acne-related pigmentation or early scarring
We do not treat severe or cystic acne, but we can assist with referral to appropriate medical providers.

Are treatments painful?
Most treatments are well tolerated. Some peels may cause a brief tingling or warm sensation. Extractions may involve mild discomfort but are done gently and safely. LED therapy is painless and calming.

How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your skin’s condition and response. A series of treatments over 6–12 weeks may be recommended, supported by a consistent home routine. Your plan will be reviewed and adjusted as needed.

Can adults have acne too?
Yes. Adult acne is common and may be linked to stress, hormones, or incorrect skincare use. We provide tailored care for adult clients experiencing late-onset or persistent acne.

Will I see results straight away?
Most acne treatments require consistency and patience. While some skin may respond quickly, it’s common to see gradual improvement over several weeks. Sudden “purging” may occur early on as skin adjusts — this will be explained in detail during your visit.

What aftercare is required?
After treatment, we recommend:
-
Avoiding harsh skincare or exfoliation for several days
-
Applying non-comedogenic moisturiser and broad-spectrum SPF
-
Avoiding picking or squeezing breakouts
-
Following your practitioner’s guidance for at-home care
